A Letter to Our Baby's Mama
Dearest mama,
As we move toward the adoption of our (yours and our) sweet boy, it’s bittersweet. The loss of your rights as sweet P’s mom is a loss on paper. You will always be his momma in your heart and I know the pain of P’s removal from your home will always be present. I want you to know a few things.
We love our sweet boy. We love him with all of our heart. We will raise him to know who he is and Whose he is. He is God’s most precious and chosen love. He will know how much God loves him and how much his first mama loves him.
He will know that there is nothing he can do which will separate himself from our love or from God’s love.
He will know that he has big and important work to do in this world. Big work like loving people regardless of circumstances or background. Loving everyone. He will be able to do this big work because he’ll know that he is braver and stronger than he feels. He will know to dig deep to find it.
He will know that regardless of what he does or what happens in his life, he will always have a safe place to return. He will have a soft place on which to fall.
I hope you know that all these things are true about sweet P, but they are also true for you beautiful mama. While we don’t know where you are or what is going on in your life, we are rooting for you. We are praying for you. You also are also a precious and chosen child of God who is so much braver and stronger than she thinks.
We will tell P of the love that you have for him. We will explain that there were circumstances in your life that left you unable to perform the physical actions required to take care of him, but your love for him was and always will be bubbling within you.
You are so worthy mama. You are worthy of a happy life and of the same love that P has had and will continue to experience. We want this so desperately for you. God wants this so desperately for you and will continue to fight for you. Oh mama you are deeply loved. You are so loved.
